We had a wonderful dinner with friends, so tonight's new recipe is the Blackberry and Ginger Cocktail from the August 2014 Bon Appétit. It might be the brand of ginger beer we chose, but this seems overbalanced toward the ginger--we give it a 3.

From the September 2014 Cooking Light: Tilapia and Fennel Yogurt Sauce served with Red Pepper Couscous and Shaved Carrot Salad. These dishes go nicely together. Over all these are 4s. The fish alone could be a five.

Wine: Benziger Sauvignon Blanc 2011. A nice match

This is delicious! The Caesar dressing used yogurt and is both delicious and tasty. We give this a 5.

Miso Pickled Eggs from the September 2014 Food and Wine, and White Bean Ragout from the May 2012 Bon Appétit.

We give the eggs a 4, and the ragout a 3--we used low salt beans, and it needs more salt but also more herbs--oregano or marjoram and thyme would make it better.

We saw the opening of Martin Moran's All the Rage at the Curious Theatre this evening--a wonderful
May! The new recipe is the Golden Arrow cocktail from the September 2014 Southwest Airlines Spirit Magazine. This is a nice melange of flavors--we give it a 3--we think it could use a bit more bitters.

Tonight's new recipe is the Blistered Shishito Peppers with Miso from the September 2014 Food and Wine. Served with chicken thighs sautéed with Shichimi Togarashi, and a reprise of the Watermelon Gazpacho with Feta Crema from the August 2014 Bon Appetit.

The peppers and the gazpacho get 5s! (The peppers are available at Har Mart, and are labelled "sweet peppers"). The chicken was impromptu, and gets a 4.

No wine, we had Tozai Junmai "Living Jewel" Sake

Dang! Forgot the photo! Tonight's new recipes are Skirt Steak with Roasted Tomato Chimichurri and Poratoes, and Skillet Corn with Bulgur (we used Farro), both from the September 2014 Food and Wine. They are both nice, and get 4s.
