Fresh Mango Ice Pops from the July 15, 2015 Denver Post. All fruit--very tasty! We felt they could use a little something more to really make the mango flavor stand out--maybe a touch more citrus juice. We give these a 4.

New recipes, July 30, 2015

At the Groshek Family Reunion, it was our night to cook. All 5 of these are new.

Grilled Eggplant and Babaganoush from the July/August 2015 Eating Well. We liked the Baba Ghanoush, but it would have been better on bread or crackers than on grilled eggplant slices. We give it a 4.

Grilled Corn and Chili Dip from the July 2015 Bon Appetít--delicious! We are thinking yogurt in place of the sour cream might make it healthier while keeping the flavors, but it is tasty! It gets a 4.

Apricot and Pistachio Ice Pop from the July 15, 2015 Denver Post. These were also very popular with Mark's family--different people have different favorites, but each one so far is someone's favorite. These get another 5.

This week we are on an ice pop theme, thanks to an article in the July 15, 2015 Denver Post. Today's is Ruby Grapefruit and Campari Ice Pops. Excellent, they get a 5 for flavor! They never quite freeze hard, retaining a slight slushiness, which makes it a bit difficult to get them out of the mold--we wonder if this might be from the small amount of alcohol from the Campari.

Dessert: Grilled Peaches and Ricotta from Epicurious. We did the version with honey and cracked pepper, not the sugar syrup. We give them a 4.

Happy Independence Day! After a long ride with lots of climbing, we made Roast Pork Loin with Creamy Onion Sauce and Sautéed Apples, from Evan Goldstein's Perfect Pairings (we did it with a pork tenderloin). It has a fair amount of butter, and tasted great! We give it a 5. Served with a green salad with orange and applewood smoked olives, which were a great flavor combination.

We had the Steak Au Poivre from Evan Goldstein's Perfect Pairings--still delicious, would use a little less salt. The new recipe is Snap Peas and Green Beans with Arugula Mint Pesto. These worked well together. We give both a 5.
