Spicy Thai Shrimp Cakes from the June 2018 Cooking Light. We tend to increase the amount of seasoning for Cooking Light recipes, and we doubled the amount of chili sauce here. Still somewhat subtle but these were delicious. They get a 4

Spicy Scallops with Watermelon Salsa from the June 2018 Cooking Light. This will be a bit ironic since we often think CL underseasons, but we would reduce the cayenne. The flavors are great overall, but the cayenne dominates, and hides the scallops a bit. We give this a 4.

Edamame Okra and Green Pea Korma from the June 2018 Cooking Light. The amount of curry powder the recipe called for seemed ridiculously small, so we doubled it. It was very tasty, we give it a 4.

Smoky Brisket with Peppers and Onions from the June 2018 Cooking Light. The flavors are very good. We were surprised the brisket was not completely tender after 9 1/2 hours in the slow cooker. We give it a 4.

Fresh Cherry Relish from the June 2018 Cooking Light, served on seared lamb. Really nice flavor combination, but the recipe omits salt, and it needed a bit. So without salt, it gets a 3, but with a pinch it is a 4.

Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa from the June 2018 Cooking Light. I confess I used the recipe as a starting place—tuna instead of salmon, used more Serrano and shallot than the recipe called for, but it gets a 4–very nice flavors!

Arugula Salad with Lemon and Pine Nuts from the May 2018 Cooking Light, and Mostly Mushroom Pasta from the April 2018 Cooking Light. The salad is wonderful and gets a 5. The pasta paradoxically would be better with more pasta. Good flavors, we give it a 3.
