Roasted Fennel and Italian Sausage Stuffing from the December 2019 Eating Well. This is not a side dish in our heads—it is a marvelous main dish. Excellent flavors, we give this a 5.

Creamy Celeriac Noodles with Chicken from the December 2019 Eating Well. We enjoyed the flavors, but this recipe committed the cardinal sin of no salt. The Parmesan by itself was not sufficient. As written, we have to give this a 3. It jumps immediately to a 4 with a little salt.

Creamy Goat Cheese, Bacon and Date Dip from NYT Cooking. A deconstructed bacon wrapped date with goat cheese. We thought the proportion of goat cheese was a bit high, but it still tastes very good. It gets a 4.

Saffron Breakfast Kheer from Epicurious. This is good, with nice flavors from the nuts and spices. But we found the rice needed more time to cook. It also needed a bit of salt, and more honey for our taste. We give this a 3.
