Caramelized Zucchini Pasta from NYT Cooking. Cooking the grated zucchini down in butter and olive oil creates an unctuous absolutely amazing sauce. We love this! It gets a 5!

I managed to forget to take any photos today! Two new one from NYT Cooking: Sami Wadi's Lamb Shanks with Pomegranate and Saffron, and Baked Rice from Yotam Ottolenghi. Both are really good and they work well together. We give both a 4.
Dessert is a new recipe from Epicurious: Mahalabiya (Milk Custard with Strawberry Compote). The flavors of cardamom and rose water work very well with the custard and strawberries. The custard come from adding corn starch to the warm milk, but for unclear reasons, it never thickened. So it was more like a sauce than a custard. But still delicious! We give this a 4.

The Palomaesque Cocktail from the May 2013 Food and Wine. It is amazing how such a small amount of Mezcal can dominate a drink. We felt this needed more grapefruit juice for better balance. It gets a 3.

New recipe, April 12, 2023
Mum's the Word Cocktail from Food and Wine. So many ingredients that meld into a really interesting drink. Hard to believe that the Vermouth Blanc and Suze can still give a honey like sweet finish from the Benedictine. Easy to drink, a tad sweet for our taste. This gets a 3.

New recipe, April 2, 2022
Fresh Cabbage and Avocado Tacos with Queso Fresco from Food and Wine. You might think this doesn't look very interesting, but think again. A few simple ingredients make a very nice dish. Warm your tortillas in a large pan or griddle-it makes them pliable and strong. We think this would benefit from a little picante spice—perhaps a little powdered chipotle or smoked paprika on the avocado. We give it a 4 as written
