First day of cycling for us!
Today's new recipe is Duck and Wild Rice Salad (go to the recipe name in the index, and click on the page numbers to get the recipe), from Ruth Reichl's The Gourmet Cookbook. Great mix of flavors, we give it a 4.
Wine: LAN Crianza Rioja 2006--nice fit!

New recipes, July 6, 2011

Cucumber Basil Egg Salad from Epicurious, made with Basic Mayonnaise from Ruth Reichl's the Gourmet Cookbook. Yum! We had a garden salad and tomato mozzarella salad on the side.

Wine: 2010 Oak Grove Sauvignon Blanc Reserve, a simple and tasty grapefruit inflected wine that was a great match.

January 21, 2011 new recipes

Dinner on 1/21/2011 had a fabulous new dish for us, Persian Style Chicken, with Walnuts, Onion and Pomegranate Sauce (Fesenjan), from the Gourmet Cookbook, edited by Ruth Reichl, and Flemish Brussel Sprouts, from Everyone Eats Well in Belgium by Ruth van Waerebeek. They were both quite good, but they did not seem pefrectly suited for each other.

The wine was a 2003 Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay, which worked very nicely with both dishes.
