New recipe, May 13, 2016

We enjoyed more of the Pasta with Chicken Green Olives and Ramp Vinaigrette (yum!), so the new recipe is the Mezcal Margarita from the May 2016 Cooking Light. Carl sometimes finds Mezcal too smoky, but this recipe mellows it nicely. We give it a 4.

New recipe, December 10, 2015

It was a very long day, so the new recipe is the Vesper Cocktail from the October 2015 Bon Appetït. We ended up using vanilla vodka, so it was a Vanilla Vesper, but it is quite good--we give it a 4.

New recipe, December 4, 2015

We drove to the mountains, so the new recipe is the Ward 8 cocktail--there are many variations, we used one from Mayfair Liquors, which is the same as in Esquire. We give this a 3--for us, a lot of sours, which this fits, are unbalanced and need a touch more sweetness to be really enjoyable.

We went to Glenwood Springs on the California Zephyr for the weekend with Mark's parents, and had a great time. But the train home was delayed, so no time to cook. Mark enjoyed a Bolero Cocktail from Gary Regan's Joy of Mixology. Very nice, it gets a 4.

As we still have lots of food from friends, the new recipe is another cocktail--the Ruby Diamond from Epicurious enjoyed by Mark. The combination of Mezcal and Campari is quite smoky-- nice, but may not be to everyone's taste. It gets a 4.

New recipe, September 15, 2015

We went to see Matilda at the Denver Center tonight (you gotta love the Miss Trunchbull!), so the new cocktail is the Negroni from the Domaine de Canton website. This substitutes the ginger of Domaine de Canton for the vermouth in the traditional recipe. Nice variant! We give this a 4.
