Festive Tuna Salad, and Cucumber and Pomegranate Salad from Epicurious. Both of these are very tasty!
Wine: Dr Loosen Riesling 2010. On the sweet side, but worked nicely with these dishes.

Marinated London Broil with Lemon and Garlic from Epicurious, with roasted vegetables and sliced tomatoes.
Wine: Dr Loosen "Red Slate" Mosel Dry Riesling 2009. This has apricot and citrus in the aroma--the flavor is good, not quite up to the aroma. Overall very nice, and a good match to the lemon and other flavors in the meat.

Adonis Cocktail, from the Mr Boston's Official Bartender Guide. Two reasons for a cocktail: 1) we both had dinner meetings. 2) our lovely wet early winter storm has resulted in a power failure for our block.

Both from Epicurious: Quick Moroccan Vegetable Couscous, and Lamb Chops with Pomegranate and Dried Fig Relish (but I used fresh figs--why not?)
The couscous was good--I overcooked the veggies a bit. But the lamb and relish were fabulous!
Wine: Bleasdale The Broadside Langhorn Creek Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec 2008. They do know lamb down-under, and this was a great fit!

Spicy Sicilian Chicken, from Mario Batali's Molto Italiano. I used the requisite number of hot peppers, but this was not as firey as Mario wants it. It was still very tasty. I remain in awe of what mint can do in a savory dish!
Wine: Undone Rheinhessen Dry Riesling 2009. An unlikely match for a chicken dish with red wine, but it has lovely aromas of honey and citrus blossom. While it is dry, those aromas and flavors are a nice counterpoint to the earthy, salty, spicy meal.

Soy Citrus Marinated Scallops from Epicurious. Accompanied by Quinoa with Toasted Pistachios and a Ponzu-Maple Syrup Dressing (inspired by a meal I had recently--did the proportions of ponzu and maple syrup entirely by taste; I had about 1/4 cup roasted pistachios in 4 cups of cooked quinoa), and Thai style cucumbers--there is a teaspoon of salt and a tablespoon of sugar (I used stevia), and 3 tablespoons of acid--usually it is all rice wine vinegar, but this time half the acid was lime juice--bright and tasty! Some red pepper flakes add a little zing. This was all very tasty, and worked together very well. we will do this again!

We are living large! The new dish is Indian Spiced Pork (Tenderloin) with Raita from Cooking Light. Fantastic. With it we had a salad of yellow pear tomatoes and basil from the garden with balsamic, leftover Truffled Lentil Spoon with Bacon Viniagrette (we did faux bacon by using olive oil and some smoked paprika) from Rick Tramonto's Amuse-Bouche, and the Salad of Watermelon, Goat Cheese, Micro Greens and Figs. Not really related to one another, but a delightful combination, nonetheless.

Tonight was a dinner party, with our friends Kate and Scott Noble, Amy and Jeff Longley, and Julie and Matt Filby. The Amuse Bouche was Truffled Lentil Spoon with Bacon Viniagrette from Rick Tramonto's Amuse-Bouche. We had this with a Gruet Blanc de Noir Sparkling Wine--a lovely champagne-like wine made in New Mexico. The appetizer was the Salad of Watermelon, Goat Cheese, Microgreens (we used pea greens) and Figs we have made before. The salad was Arugula Salad with Pomegranate and Toasted Pecans from Epicurious. We had both of these with with the 1764 Pierre Chainier Sauvignon Blanc 2009. The main course (and new recipe) was Roasted Beef Tenderloin with Port Sauce from Epicurious and herbed roasted root vegetables, served with a Chateau Les Rosiers Bordeaux 2009. Dessert was fresh blueberries and raspberries with yogurt flavored with grand marnier, served with an Orange Mead made by Scott Noble. Yum!
