New recipe, July 31, 2017

Candied Pancetta Stacks from the August 2017 Cooking Light. These are tasty and beautiful, but not easy to eat (the stack falls apart when you cut it). We give them a 4. Served with sautéed leg of zucchini (a leg of zucchini is what you get when you forget to look at your zucchini for a couple days and then find a squash the size of your three years old's leg!).

Lamb Burgers with Fennel Slaw from the July 2017 Bon Appetít. This is fabulous--the slaw is really nice, but the lemon caper aioli (much easier than you think) is the keystone. We give this a 5!

New recipe, July 29, 2017

Barbados Rum Punch from the August 2017 Cooking Light. We did not like this--it gets a 2. With fresh pineapple juice and coconut milk, this would probably be better, but in our view any canned or processed pineapple juice, including a pineapple-coconut juice, is a complete waste of time. The canning process destroys the juice.

Farro Burrito Bowls from the July 2017 Cooking Light. These are surprisingly tasty (it is all in the dressing!). We give these a 5.

New recipe, July 10, 2017

Cherry Basil Lemonade Spritzers from the July 2017 Cooking Light. Once you add the sparkling water to make it a spritzer, this tastes a bit too diluted to us. We would either cut back on the plain water, or eliminate the spritz. The flavors are nice, but as written we give this a 3.

New recipe, July 7, 2017

Grilled Sausage with Broccolini, Kale and Lemon from Epicurious. The flavors are good, but the broccolini would be a bit easier to chew if it was steamed for a few minutes before grilling. And it is easy to overlook the Sausage. We give this a 3.
