June is upon us! Our day started with a moose cow and 2 calves outside our room in Jackson (a calf is visible in this photo), and then a long trip home. So the new recipe is the Blue Train Cocktail from Gary Regan's The Joy of Mixology. Quite tasty--we give this a 4.

We attended Project Angel Heart's Annual Art for Life. This great event raises money to support their mission of providing meals free of charge for people with life threatening illnesses. They have the most dedicated volunteers, and Mark is proud to have joined their Board of Directors.

So tonight's new recipe is from Gary Regan's Joy of Mixology--the Tremblement de Terre (earthquake) cocktail. We give this a 3.
You have to like Absinthe for this cocktail!

Grilled Clams with Spiced Paprika Butter, from the June 2015 Bon Appetit. And the Avocado Salad with Sesame Vinaigrette from the May 27, 2015 Denver Post.

The clams did not wow us--they get a 3. We have not cooked clams before, so that could be on us. The salad is wonderful, especially with a perfect avocado. We give it a 5.

From the June 2015 Cooking Light: Thai Basil Chicken Stir Fry with Cashew and Green Onion Bulgur. This is good. We give the stir fry a 3, the bulgur gets a 4.

The new recipe is the Grilled Bread Salad with Sweet Peppers and Onion from the July 2014 Bon Appetít. Yummy, it gets a 4. Served with a reprise of the two from the June 2015 Bon Appetít: Snap Peas and Green Beans with Arugula Mint Pesto, and Chi Spacca's Bistecca Fiorentina. These still get a 5.

Two from the June 2015 Bon Appetít: Snap Peas and Green Beans with Arugula Mint Pesto, and Chi Spacca's Bistecca Fiorentina. Both are delicious--they get 5s. The steak clearly depends on a great cut of meat, as the only spices are salt and pepper.

Wine: Domaine de Garrou Richesse 2002--a great match!
