Last day of January? Agh! Tomato and White Bean Soup with Shrimp from the January/February 2020 Eating Well. Our shrimp was strong in iodine, which we learned is common in wild caught gulf shrimp. This was not so pleasant, so we give this a 3. The overall flavors are good, and we think this would be a 4 with a sweeter shrimp.

Parchment Packet Baked Tuna with Creamy Dijon Turmeric Sauce from the January/February 2020 Eating Well. The flavors are great, but I need to learn how to seal a parchment packet better—the potatoes came out undercooked. As made, it gets a 3, would certainly be a 4 properly cooked.

Ouzo Lemonade from Yummly.com. Nice combination of flavors, we felt it was a bit overbalanced to the lemon and needed a bit more sweetener. We give it a 3.

Burnt Green Onion Dip from Ottolenghi's Nopi. Tasty dip which gets a 4.
Then three from Ottolenghi's Simple: Cauliflower Pomegranate Pistachio Salad (delicious, a 5); Baked Mint Rice with Pomegranate and Olive Salsa (another 5!); and Miso Ginger Lime Chicken (good flavors but a bit dry, we give this a 5).
And finally, Flourless Chocolate Teacakes from Ottolenghi's Sweet. These are delicious, they get a 5!

Cauliflower Okonomiyaki from the January 2020 Food and Wine. There are a bunch of small steps to this recipe, so it takes a little time. But it is fantastic! A total 5. Also gave me an entertaining adventure finding several ingredients (that I could have ordered online if I was more patient) at our local Har-Mart, which was also very satisfying!

Happy New Year! Today's new recipe is Asado from NYT Cooking. We had some fresh calamansi (a little orange citrus fruit that is tart), as our tree has done well. So what do you use calamansi for? Lots of Filipino dishes, including Asado. And it is fabulous. We give this a 5! Nice way to start a new decade!
